To optimize VPC costs, reduce NAT Gateway usage by implementing VPC Endpoints, minimize cross-AZ data transfers, remove unused load balancers and endpoints, monitor traffic using VPC Flow Logs, and evaluate whether Transit Gateway or VPC Peering is more cost-effective for the environment. Most networking costs in AWS come from data transfer and managed networking services rather than the VPC itself.
