VPC data transfer pricing depends on where traffic flows. Traffic within the same Availability Zone is generally free, while traffic crossing Availability Zones, VPCs, Regions, or the internet is charged. Services such as NAT Gateway and Transit Gateway also add per-GB processing charges. To reduce costs, AWS recommends using VPC Endpoints for services like S3 and keeping high-volume communication within the same Availability Zone whenever possible
