why terminating instances will not delete keypair?
Terminating
an
Amazon
EC2
instance
does
not
delete
the
associated
key
pair.
This
is
because
the
key
pair
is
tied
to
the
instance
itself
and
is
not
a
separate
entity.
When
you
terminate
an
instance,
it
is
permanently
removed
from
the
instance
list,
and
the
key
pair
is
not
deleted.
The
key
pair
remains
associated
with
the
instance
until
it
is
removed
or
deleted.
If
you
need
to
change
the
key
pair
for
an
EC2
instance,
you
must
stop
the
instance
first,
then
create
a
new
key
pair.
