Why do we use EBS?

We use Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) because it acts as a reliable, high-performance virtual hard drive for Amazon EC2 instances. Unlike temporary local instance storage, which wipes your data when a virtual machine turns off, EBS provides persistent block storage that retains your data indefinitely
