By default, cloud infrastructure (like an AWS Security Group) operates on a "deny all" policy, meaning it blocks all incoming internet traffic to keep your servers safe. Inbound rules allow you to selectively poke holes in that firewall to let legitimate traffic through while
keeping hackers out.
