Restoring a snapshot to a smaller-sized volume will generally fail. This is because the data contained in the snapshot may exceed the capacity of the smaller volume, leading to insufficient space for the restoration process. AWS does not allow you to restore a snapshot to a volume that is smaller than the original volume from which the snapshot was created. To successfully restore a snapshot, the target volume must be equal to or larger than the original volume.
