What is the cost difference between NAT Gateway and NAT Instance?

NAT Gateway is significantly more expensive than a NAT Instance, but it provides much better scalability, availability, and operational simplicity.

Cost ComponentsNAT Gateway

You pay for:

  1. Hourly charge
  2. Data processed (per GB)
  3. Data processing charges.
NAT Instance

You pay only for:

  1. EC2 instance cost
  2. EBS storage
  3. Data transfer (normal AWS charges)
  4. No NAT processing fee
