Amazon S3 Object Lock prevents objects from being deleted or overwritten by using a WORM (Write Once, Read Many) model. It features two modes: Governance Mode, which blocks standard users from deleting files but allows authorized administrators to bypass the lock, and Compliance Mode, a strict setting where no one—not even the AWS Root Account—can delete the data or shorten the retention period.
