An Amazon EBS snapshot is a point-in-time, block-level backup of an Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) volume. It captures the exact state of your virtual hard drive—including all data, configurations, and settings—and stores it securely in Amazon S3 across an entire AWS region.
