An Availability Zone is one or more physically separate data centers within an AWS Region, designed to be isolated from failures in other AZs.

AZs within the same Region are connected through AWS's private, low-latency, high-bandwidth network.

This allows applications to communicate between AZs while maintaining high availability and fault tolerance.
