An AWS Local Zone is an extension of an AWS Region that places AWS infrastructure closer to end users in a specific geographic area.

It solves the problem of high latency when users are far away from the main AWS Region.

Example:
Suppose your application is hosted in the Mumbai Region, but users are located in another distant city. A Local Zone closer to those users can run supported workloads nearby, reducing network latency.
