A Key Pair is used to connect securely to your Amazon EC2 instance. It has two parts: Public Key - stored in the instance Private Key - downloaded by user. We need the private key to log in to the EC2 instance securely. If we lose the private key we cannot connect to the instance directly. we may need to create a new key pair or recover access using another method.
