What defines a public subnet in AWS, and how does it differ from a private subnet?

Public subnet has a route to an igw in its route table, allowing instances within it to communicate directly with the internet. To enable this access, the instances usually require a public or elastic IP address. Public subnets are commonly used for resources that need to be reachable from the internet,such as web servers. Private subnet does not have a route to the igw. Instances in private subnets are not directly reachable from the internet, & they often use a NAT gateway for outbound internet access.
