NAT in a VPC helps private instances connect to the internet while blocking incoming traffic from outside. This makes things safer but there's still some risk if the instances visit unsafe sites. To reduce risks use strict security group rules, monitor network traffic & use NAT gateway instead of a NAT instance for better security.
