What are the cost implications of using VPC components?
Paid Components (Hourly Rate + Per-GB Data Fees)
- NAT Gateways: Charges a fixed hourly price + a fee for every GB processed.
- VPC Interface Endpoints (PrivateLink): Charges an hourly fee per AZ + data processing costs.
- AWS Site-to-Site VPN: Charges a flat rate per hour per active tunnel.
- Public IPv4 Addresses: Charges a flat hourly rate for all public IPs (used or idle)
Data Transfer Rules
- Inbound Traffic: Data entering the VPC from the internet is free.
- Outbound Traffic: Data leaving the VPC to the internet incurs a per-GB egress charge.
- Cross-AZ Traffic: Data moving between different Availability Zones within the same VPC incurs a per-GB transfer fee.
