In AWS, stopping an instance and terminating an instance are two different actions with different outcomes. Stopping an instance: When you stop an instance, it is temporarily turned off and the data on its EBS (Elastic Block Store) volumes is preserved. You can restart the instance at a later time, and it will retain the same configuration and data. Terminating an instance: When you terminate an instance, it is permanently deleted. The EBS volumes attached to the instance can be deleted along with it, or they can be preserved as separate resources. Terminating an instance is irreversible and will result in the loss of any data stored on its instance store volumes.
