How does VPC peering work, and what are its limitations?

VPC Peering enables private communication between two VPCs using AWS's internal network. After creating and accepting a peering connection, route tables and security rules must be updated to allow traffic. The main limitations are the lack of transitive routing, inability to peer VPCs with overlapping CIDR blocks, scalability challenges in large environments, and the need to manage routes separately in each VPC.
