You created a volume say vol-1 out of the snapshot say snap-1. Again you took another snapshot say snap-2. How can you update the new contents onto vol-1? Is it possible or should you create a new volume again say vol-2?

You cannot update an existing EBS volume (vol-1) with a new snapshot (snap-2). Instead, you must create a new volume (vol-2) from the snapshot, then use it as needed
